Two workers hurt in fire at Latvijas Finieris plant

Two workers were injured in a fire that broke out in the laminating section of the birch plywood manufacturer Latvijas Finieris in Riga, Latvia on December 11, 2014.

They were provided with medical attention prior to the arrival of fire fighters.

The fire, which was quickly brought under control caused damage to the plant's production and storage units in a total area of 200m2 including 50m2 of the unit's roof.

All factory workers were evacuated and the company's board gave thanks to its employees for their composure and handling of the situation as well as to the Fire and Rescue Service for its prompt reaction.

According to the State Environmental Service the fire was caused by a thermal fluid leak though no other chemicals that were stored in the factory were in danger.
