Q1 shipments of particleboard and MDF up 2%
4 May 2016US and Canadian shipments of particleboard and MDF in March rose 3.4% to 497 MMSF compared to 481 MMSF (3/4in basis) during the same month in 2015. Year-to-date shipments rose nearly 2% over Q1, 2015.
Particleboard shipments climbed 1.5% in March 2015 to 294 MMSF (3/4in basis), an increase of 12% over the previous month. Year-to-date shipments for the first quarter of the year were slightly ahead by 0.2%.
MDF shipments in March increased 6.25% to 203 MMSF (3/4in basis) compared to 191 MMSF the same month one year ago and were up 14% over the prior month. Year-to-date shipments for the first quarter were up 4.4% compared to 2015.
