Plywood sales volume of Empresas CMPC decreased by 9% in 2017

One of Chile’s largest company’s, Empresas CMPC SA, reports that sales volume of plywood in the Q4, 2017 was down 23% compared with the same period 2016 and reached 87,000m³ (Q4, 2016: 113,000m3).

According to the CMPC report, the downturn was due to lower exports within Latin America and to the US. The trend seen in the past two quarters has thus continued.

The second quarter registered a 2% decline, the third quarter was the weakest period with a 26% drop.

Full-year plywood sales were hence down 9% at 366,000m3.

CMPC Maderas SA constitutes the industrial area of CMPC Forestry Division and its mission is to add value to the company’s vast forest assets. It aims to provide an integral solution to the wood product needs of its clients.

This includes sawn wood, remanufactured products and plywood panels. Empresas CMPC produces forestry, pulp, paper, tissue and packaging products throughout Latin America.
