The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has published a direct final rule to extend the compliance date for formaldehyde emission standards for composite wood products to March 22, 2018, reports the Hardwood Plywood & Veneer Association.

The deadline for provisions for import certification is now March 22, 2019. While laminated product producer provisions were extended until March 22, 2024, laminated product producers must comply with applicable fabricator provisions beginning March 22, 2018. In addition, the EPA plans to allow early labelling of compliant products and to update voluntary consensus standards.
