The Belgian chemicals manufacturer Govi has taken over Emulco Malaysia, based in Port Klang, near Kuala Lumpur which has a product portfolio of emulsions and dispersions similar to that of Govi.

Emulco initially started its business as a joint venture between Govi nv and BP (British Petroleum) but became independent from its parent companies as it grew stronger becoming a sizeable market player in South-East Asia.

This take-over now reunites both parts of the company, which have developed successfully in their own geographical markets. Emulco Malaysia realised a turnover of over €25m in 2014.

Management and staff of Emulco Malaysia will stay on board, fully supported by the Govi group in its ambition to continue its path of growth.

To realise this, a major investment plan for a brand new production site on 20.000m² in Port Klang has been launched. Construction has already started with start-up anticipated at the end of this year.
Emulco Malaysia will be rebranded to Govi, to avoid confusion with the Emulco brand which will still be used by the seller in other business lines.
Govi serves a variety of industries including the wood panel industry. It operates two plants in Belgium and one in Serbia.
