The European Poplar Association (Pro-Populus) is planning a new round of activities as part of its remit to promote the use of the species.
At Pro-Populus’ extraordinary general meeting in Brussels, Nicoletta Azzi was elected the new association president and members agreed to new initiatives including drafting a multilingual document presenting the different aspects of poplar, enlarging the membership and meeting national and European authorities to further “sensitisethem to poplar.
Pro-Populus’ core goals are positioning the species as a strategic raw material, gathering, promoting, defending the production and use of poplar and presenting a platform for information exchange.
