Weyerhaeuser has signed a letter of intent with an undisclosed company over a possible sale of its Miramichi, New Brunswick OSB mill, ForestTalk reports.

While the name of the company has not been disclosed, Weyerhaeuser spokesman Wayne Roznowski confirmed that the company is interested in running the facility as an OSB mill and that the wood supply was a key issue.

Weyerhaeuser’s plans to decommission its OSB mill in town are on hold, even though the province’s environment department has approved the company’s environmental impact assessment.

“We’re certainly not going to begin a decommissioning process at this time, even though we now have all the permits in place, said Mr Roznowski.
