Weyerhaeuser is helping US builders construct more energy efficient wall framing with its Javelin software.
At the International Builders’ Show held in Las Vegas recently, the company showed builders various techniques to help them meet the requirements of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star for Homes programme Version Three, scheduled for implementation in 2011.
This includes spacing 2x6in studs on 24in centres, rather that the normal 2x4in studs at 16in centres, as well as two-stud corners, innovative wall intersections, insulated rim and careful design to give a continuous fit between insulation and framing.
