Unilin Technologies, the intellectual property division of Unilin, has been officially granted the European patent EP 4114629 for its groundbreaking Osiris wood fibre recycling technology.
Osiris enables the recovery of wood fibres from waste fibreboards, reinforcing Unilin’s commitment to sustainable solutions.
“We are proud to receive this patent for Osiris, as it represents a major step forward in circular wood fibre usage,” said Louis Van Roy, Business Development Director at Unilin Technologies.
“By transforming waste into valuable raw materials, we are paving the way for a more sustainable fibreboard and laminate flooring industry.”
In the past, the composite nature of fibreboards made them unsuitable for recycling, resulting in widespread disposal through landfills or incineration. Osiris overcomes these challenges by enabling the separation and reuse of waste fibres, integrating them with virgin wood to produce new boards.
Osiris is available for licensing through Unilin in collaboration with its partner Dieffenbacher, which provides the necessary machinery and equipment integration.
The Osiris technology will be showcased by Unilin’s Panels division at Interzum in Cologne and by Dieffenbacher at Ligna in Hannover.
Unilin Technologies is a key player in the flooring industry, known for its licensing business model for innovative technologies.
The company has gained widespread recognition for introducing the widely used click systems Uniclic, Unidrop and Unipush, establishing itself as a leader in laminate and resilient flooring products.
