The Swiss Krono Group says it has set another milestone in the field of wood based materials with the launch of its fire-retardant Kronoply OSB SF-B.

The panel complies with construction material class B1 as defined by DIN 4102; it has been tested by an accredited institute in Germany and assigned to reaction to fire performance Euroclass B-s2, d0 for fire-retardant building materials, the company said.

Extensive testing has shown that Kronoply OSB SF-B does not catch fire even with prolonged exposure to flame; its surface is charred, creating a reliably fire-retardant layer, according to the manufacturer.

Reaction to fire performance Euroclass B-s2, d0 shows the product also produces only a moderate amount of smoke and releases no burning droplets or particles during a fire.
