A partnership between innovative flooring company Välinge and textured press plate and endless press belt manufacturer Sandvik Surface Solutions has resulted in the development of a new ‘paper free’ flooring surface that recreates a slate stone from Southern Europe.
The project combines Sandvik’s expertise in replicating the aesthetic and textural qualities of naturally occurring surfaces with Välinge’s powder technology, used to produce new ‘paper free’ solid laminate flooring, or wood fibre floors.
Development of the surface involved digitally capturing the entire surface of a massive slab of slate.
The use of Välinge powder technology in combination with Sandvik press plates is said to deliver a solid surface with exceptional properties in terms of deep embossing, wear/impact resistance, colour variations, design flexibility and mechanical performance.
