Ainsworth Lumber Company provided OSB for the world’s largest earthquake shake table test in Japan in July, according to a report by 100 Mile House Free Press.
The OSB was used in a full-scale seven-storey 40x60ft condominium with 23 living units and two retail shops.
An international research team, NEESWood Capston, led the project, in which the tower, lifted on to Japan’s Earth-Defense shake table, was subjected to a simulated 7.5 magnitude earthquake.
The results proved that wood-frame construction is suitable for higher mid-rise structures in areas subject to earthquakes.
