Organiser Deutsche Messe, which holds the event at Hannover Messe, said it was experiencing strong exhibitor demand, with about 800 companies so far booked in.
Ligna 2013 (May 6-10) will include the Lightweight Network, dedicated to looking at lightweight technology (such as panel products) as a driver of innovation in the furniture industry. Some products with honeycomb or sandwich construction can accommodate electrical equipment such as lights and iPod docks, as well as providing their core design and structural properties.
Egger, Häfele, Möbel Hunger and Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences will have displays in the network’s exhibition area.
Ligna 2011 featured 1,723 exhibitors, occupying 130m2 of net display space and attracting 88,000 visitors.
