A Chilean citizen, the new sector chief, was an ANAFATA director and has headed the Mexican offshoot of the leading Chile-based board manufacturer since 2007. He is responsible for Masisa plants and forest plantations in the states of Mexico, Durango, Chihuahua and Michoacán, as well as the firm’s project to install a 200,000m3/year MDF line.

The association elected as its vice president Emilio Ayub Touché, president of Duraplay de Parral which also plans a new MDF line; Guillermo Perez Gavilan, head of Triplay y Laminados Guadalajara as secretary and Rocío Ranz Casanova, president of Maderas Conglomeradas (Macosa) as treasurer.

Mr Schlesinger, a champion of sustainable business practices, is currently chairman of the Global Council for Natural Resources of the World Economic Forum (Davos). He took over as ANAFATA president from Jorge Fernandez de Castro, head of the plywood and mouldings maker Forestal Alpha of Durango.
