Efforts have been made by the group’s insolvency administrator to sell the businesses as a package including the Interpanel MDF plant in Villabrázaro, in Spain’s Zamora province and the Tablicia particleboard unit near Lugo, Galicia.
It was last October that Tablicia filed for bankruptcy and the liquidation process for the companies began in mid-December 2012. Late last year, the group suggested four potential buyers had expressed interest in bidding for the companies including an unnamed Spanish investment fund and three foreign companies.
With 430 creditors, the group has debts of more than €38 million, the Lugo newspaper El Progreso reported in March 2013.
Spanish trade union representatives remain hopeful that the operations may eventually be sold in a second phase of the liquidation process, which is understood to end in July 2013.
