Georgia-Pacific (GP) indefinitely curtailed operations at its plywood plant in Monticello, Georgia, reports The Monticello News.

The Monticello softwood plywood plant produces Plytanium Plywood and Sturd-I-Floor, according to GP’s website.

GP spokesperson Melody Ruse said around 20 of the plant’s 60 employees would remain to maintain the facility and power the boilers, which provide service to the MDF and stud mill operations in Monticello.

Ms Ruse said the curtailment was the result of economic conditions, and that the Monticello plant would return to business if the economy improves. The MDF plant and stud mill were not affected, she added.
