FSC consulting on draft advice note for addressing false claims6 February 2020
The FSC is inviting comments and input from relevant parties around the subject of advice notes addressing false claims, including procedures for penalties and compensation.
The FSC introduced a revised action plan in 2016 to ensure integrity of the FSC certification process and to eliminate its misuse. It set out the procedure and penalties to be levied when false claims were identified and also the level of compensation due if a penalty was successfully appealed.
On identifying a false claim an advice note is issued and the relevant organisation has its right to use the FSC licence removed and restrictions are placed on any activities covered by FSC certification.
In addition to this draft advice note the FSC has implemented a procedure for calculating the financial penalty to be levied as well as a compensation structure for organisations rebutting these sanctions.
If you would like to take part, or view the draft advice note, the consultation closes on 17th February.
