Less than 18 months after starting up, Floraplac MDF, Brazil’s northernmost MDF manufacturer, is already embarking on a fresh project to install a new thin fibreboard production line at its base in Pará State.

Paragominas-based Floraplac has established a firm foothold in Brazil’s growing finished panel market in the north and north-east of the country since it began making MDF using paricá tropical hardwood fibre on a 220,000m3/year Chinese-built line in 2010.

Now, the company, which currently runs a Dieffenbacher/SWPM MDF 12-opening press line, is preparing plans to install a high density fibreboard (HDF) line based on a calendar press system in the next few months. Floraplac could acquire this unusual continuous line by the end of 2012, the firm’s director Adriano D’Agoluzzo told the Brazilian publication RG Movel.
