The Timber Trade Federation has been made aware that a product called Pine Deck is currently being offered to the market supported by claims of a BBA certificate. Members and their customers are warned that any such claims are entirely false.
The BBA Certificate relating to Pine Deck expired prior to 2007 and therefore any product claims particularly in relation to structural performance based on this certificate must be considered false.
It is also important to note that whilst the original BBA certificate was issued for production from a Brazilian mill, the goods currently being offered to the market under the name Pine Deck / Pine Dek or even Pin Deck / PinDek are of Chinese origin with no structural credentials and are very unlikely to be Pine veneers throughout, almost certainly containing Poplar veneers and probably an entire Poplar core.
