The fire was quickly contained and no one was injured. The cause of the fire is not yet known. West Fraser will be repairing and restarting WestPine after a complete investigation to determine the root cause of what failed inside the MDF forming process equipment, and when a solution can be implemented to ensure a similar incident could not happen again. The MDF plant employs approximately 100 people.
