Around 28%, or 180,000m3, of the European Union’s 650,000m3 duty-free quota for softwood plywood imports had been used by January 24, according to EUWID.
The rate of depletion is a little faster than last year, when around 150,000m3 had been imported duty-free into the EU by the same date. The quota last year lasted significantly longer than in previous years.
Information from the EU Commission’s Directorate General Taxation and Customs Union shows that the quota was filled on July 9, and the final quantities were allocated duty-free status on July 13.
