European panels sector gathers in Hamburg to hear latest on wood-based panels market movements

Hundreds of representatives from the international wood-based panels industry and technology suppliers to the sector gathered in Hamburg on Tuesday evening for the opening of the European Wood-based Panel Symposium.

The event was last held in 2018 to due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the more than 300 delegates registered for the 2022 event, organised by the European Panel Federation and the Fraunhofer Institute for Wood Research, spent the first evening networking at the Grand Elysée Hotel.

Representatives travelled from Norway, Turkey, the US, Canada, Finland, Sweden, Brazil, Chile, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Latvia, the Netherlands, France, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Italy, Spain, the UK, Ireland, Switzerland, Belgium and Austria to the event in Germany.

Wood based panel manufacturers represented include AGT, Homanit, Berneck, Sonae Arauco, Medite SmartPly, Kastamonu Entegre, Swiss Krono, Unilin, Finsa, Rheinspan, Japan Novopan Industrial Co, IKEA Industry, Fundermax, NODA Corporation, Egger, Dongwha, Latvijas Finieris, Fantoni, Pfleiderer, Kronospan, Steico and Fibreboard GmbH

The event runs from October 12 – 14, with opening sessions on October 13 focusing on the global development of the wood-based panels sector with special regard to the Ukraine conflict; current and future developments in the furniture industry; plus the outlook for new construction and renovation until 2024.
