One of Brazil’s leading panel makers Eucatex SA has announced it is investing US$7.6m to double production of its Eucafloor wood laminate flooring.
Eucatex will double the capacity of its eucalypt-based flooring business at Botucatu plant from six million m2/year to 12 million m2/year, it said.
Sales of flooring products by the firm last year soared by 42.7% and are expected to rise again this year, according to the company.
The Botucatu plant, which has a constructed area of 62,000m2, also includes a 430,000m3/year MDP line, low pressure melamine laminating lines and other panel finishing units.
The company, which this year is celebrating its 60th anniversary, recently launched production of MDF and HDF panels on a 275,000m3/year continuous line at its main plant in Salto, Sao Paulo state.
