Ecuadorian particleboard exports grow 7% in first five months of 2019
5 August 2019With a 7.0% growth in the first five months of 2019, Ecuadorian medium density particleboard (MDP) exports exceeded US$51m.
In 2018 the Ecuadorian exports of MDP reached a record US$118.5m and particleboard manufacturer Novopan supplied 99% of the total of MDP exported by Ecuador, accumulating exports of US$50.7m in May 2019, a growth of 8.5% over the previous year.
The main market for Ecuadorian MDP was Colombia, with shipments of more than US$27.9m in the period, although with a slight drop of 1.3% compared to the 2018 period.
Peru was the second market in importance for Ecuadorian MDP, with purchases of US$20.4m and a growth of 15.4% compared to the same period of 2018. Peru with Colombia represent about 94% of Ecuadorian MDP exports in the first five months of 2019.
