The 45th China International Furniture Fair (CIFF) and China International Furniture Machinery & Furniture Raw Materials Fair 2020 (CIFM Interzum) due to take place in March in Guangzhou have both been postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus problem in the country.

No new dates have been set but the organisers stated “The Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province and Guangzhou Municipal Commerce Bureau recently announced that all large-scale economic and trade events should be suspended”.

The events were dues to host 4,400 exhibitors over two sessions from 18th to 21st March (CIFF) and 28th to 31st March (CIFM) attracting a total of 750,000 visitors.

The statement continued: “As a brand exhibition organized by the national team of China’s exhibition industry, CIFF adheres to the principle of putting exhibitors and visitors first. Given the current situation of the novel coronavirus in China, rescheduling the fairs to protect people’s health and safety is an important and necessary decision to make.”

“No matter how difficult it is, CIFF will, as always, stand by the international furniture and furnishing industry. It is our firm belief that through concerted efforts by exhibitors, visitors, associations and all industry stakeholders, by making the best of its strength and improving show quality, CIFF has full confidence and capability to develop into a world’s first-class exhibition and create more value for the industry.”
