Decor printer Interprint GmbH, Arnsberg, Germany and MDC Max Daetwyler AG, Bleienbach, Switzerland have founded a joint venture company with the objective of developing and marketing a new, cost-saving digital printing method. The name of the joint venture company, as registered in Switzerland, is DI Projekt AG.

The development partnership is the result of what is said to be an innovative, patented method for digital printing called LaserSonic Technology. It allows digital printing with standard gravure and flexographic inks – plus special inks and metallics – on various materials like paper, foil or cardboard.

Both solvent inks and water inks can be used in this printing method. In contrast to conventional digital printing technology, LaserSonic is said to significantly reduce high ink costs and environmental pollution.

The first LaserSonic printing machine is planned to be put into operation at Interprint’s headquarters in Arnsberg in the summer of 2010.
