Apart from ramping up production on a new 500,000m3/year MDF line launched at its southern plant in Curitibanos almost a year ago, Berneck has also increased MDP capacity at its main Araucaria panel plant in Paraná state by 10%, the firm told the Brazilian furniture sector magazine RG Móvel.

"All the production was absorbed by the market. We consider this a triumph and, without doubt, our greatest achievement of 2012," RG Móvel quoted Berneck’s commercial director Graça Berneck as saying.

This year, the family-run company is continuing to expand. March saw the launch of a new 300,000m3/year pine wood saw mill alongside the Curitibanos MDF line, as well as the site’s cogeneration biomass energy plant.

Then, at the end of 2013, Berneck is set to start up the southern site’s second low pressure melamine laminating line. The firm installed a 216,000m3/year Wemhöner melamine line there in 2012.
