Adeptus USA, a manufacturer of solid wood products, is investing $215.56m in its first South Carolina operation, a new facility in Anderson County that will generate 217 jobs.
The plant, at 1205 Hamby Road in Honea Path, will produce value-added and processed pine wood products serving building and millwork applications.
The company’s primary offerings will include painted and primed moulding, boards, shiplap, and a range of panel products and grades. Its broader catalogue also encompasses edge-glued panels and reversible planks.
Production is scheduled to get under way in the second quarter of 2027.
South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster said: “Adeptus’ $215.56m investment will bring new jobs and opportunity to Anderson County. The company’s decision to invest in South Carolina is a testament to the strength of our workforce and the quality of our manufacturing capabilities.”
State support for the project includes job development credits approved by the Coordinating Council for Economic Development, which also granted $850,000 from the Closing Fund to Anderson County to help cover building improvement costs.
Adeptus CEO Billy White said the commitment demonstrated by the state, Anderson County, and the local forestry community confirmed the location was the right fit.
White said: “This investment represents far more than a manufacturing operation — it reflects a long-term commitment to our employees, our customers, and the communities of Anderson County and the surrounding area.”
He also acknowledged the contributions of Atlantic Union Bank, Venturus (a division of Heritage Bank), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development, and Capital Resource Advisors in bringing the project to fruition.
Adeptus has been manufacturing solid wood products since 1972, when founder Billy White drew on more than 40 years of industry experience and partnerships with leading Brazilian timber producers to establish the business.
