Kronospan adds wow factor in design

29 March 2023

Kronospan’s Global Collection 3.0 launched with a big splash for 2023 and is now making waves in interior design, along with trending colour Mursala

The latest edition of the biggest event of Kronospan – Kronoevent 2022 – brought together customers, partners, designers, architects and professionals from the building and construction industries from almost 70 countries around the globe.

The event was held at the end of 2022 in Malta, home to Kronospan’s R&D office, which is responsible for creating all product categories and new decors.

The latest edition Kronoevent 2022 witnessed the pre-release of the new Kronodesign Global Collection 3.0, which was available on the market from January 2023.

The new collection contains on-trend designs to bring originality and innovation to the furniture market and any interior design project in the public, shop fitting, or residential sector.

The Kronospan team welcomed more than 1,000 guests and surprised them with comprehensive product presentations and displays, an impressive 3D mapping show, and an entertaining programme, combining high-quality audio and visual elements that brought all aspects of the event to life.

Realistic woodgrains, sophisticated marbles and stones, nature-inspired uni colours, metallic shine, gloss and velvety matt boards, three-dimensional, synchronised textures are some of the highlights in the range of 154 melaminefaced decors, 68 worktops, and 24 Avantgarde products in the Global Collection 3.0.

The new Trends Origin Stories collection, presented for the first time during the event, is inspired by the natural world and underlines the importance of having a visual and sensual bond with its colours, textures, and forms.

Each of the four stories presented during Kronoevent revealed a new personality type with distinctive taste and experience. The Nomad, The Optimist, The Passionate, and The Adaptable were presented on big mood boards with distinct forms and decor combinations that resonate with the environment and how those people live, think and feel.

The Avant-garde products are billed as a unique blend of innovation and exclusivity, including mirror gloss MDF, acrylic matt boards and metal boards.

The Harmony range is a new collection of realistic decors with multi-dimensional synchronised embossing. Their textures trail the twists and lines of the woodgrain designs, creating harmony and a high-end look and feel.

Contempo contemporary wood decors range from natural oak, beech and pine, to darker and more masculine wood reproductions such as elm, hickory and wenge. The Contempo collection is designed to be at the forefront of design and industry demand, in order to inspire and bring unique texture into modern interior design projects.

Kronospan says most of the collection’s decors can be perfectly combined with Orgahim’s colour of the year – Mursala.

“The soft nuances of this shade bring a delicate touch to any space,” the company says.

“Just like a chameleon, Mursala can take on a different appearance depending on the composition it’s in. Whether it appears green, grey, blue or white, it can be an accent to complement the palette of the interior or create a contrasting background when working with warmer colours.

“There is an ever-growing tendency for homes to have a dedicated work corner that provides both functionality and conditions suitable for online meetings. Working from home requires creating multi-functional spaces that seamlessly incorporate an office without affecting the day-to-day dynamics at home. Blending in with the natural environment is the secret to building a true work-life balance.”

Kronospan says muted tones complement authentic wood decors such as K537 RW Ristretto Baroque Oak, marble and comfortable textiles. Modern suggestions such as K541 PN Greige Tessea are perfect for recreating a textile motive, while solid greys (K519 SU Mouse Gray) and chocolate shades (7181 BS Dark Chocolate) interact well with various clean colours and wood designs. Expressive white marble (K551 SU Calacatta Olympus), with warm golden-grey veins, is another suitable pairing for Mursala. Its presence adds an Italian elegance in its purest form.

The concept used for the living room and work area can also be carried over to the bedroom. Its design is aimed at emitting cosiness, and the colour Mursala brings additional calmness and relaxes the senses.

The earth tones in red (K514 SU Deep Sahara) and yellow (K516 SU Toffee) range add more warmth and soulfulness to the space. The wood presence (K530 HU Amaretto Hudson Oak; K554 HU Chocolate Hudson Oak) and the unique texture combined with the wood grain create tactility and a feeling of closeness to nature.

Wood decorations in soft natural tones are undoubtedly a key factor for any stylish interior. Here as well, the addition of textile (K542 PN Mocha Tessea) and stone (K550 SL Dove Venera) bring extra cosiness.

“Working not only with colour shades but also with a rich range of textures, we can successfully build a complete and elegant look,” said the company.

The flooring solution (K463 Weathered Volcano Oak) is also essential for choosing interior elements and colours. The Mursala colour is suitable for realising a modern or vintage look. It combines grey, green and blue shades that can predominate depending on the combination. Contemporary wood decors have pronounced details such as cracks, knots and cathedrals. They provide an authentic look. Synchronised pore texture contributes to a rustic and well-balanced look. This design is preferred for both flooring (274 Sunderland Oak) and vertical surfaces (K535 RW Gold Baroque Oak).

As the centre of any residential interior, there are current trends in the kitchen space to combine natural materials (K524 SN Pure Surfside Ash; K525 SN Blonde Surfside Ash) with bolder coloured focal points: yellow (K516 SU Toffee), green (K520 SU Dark Emerald) or blue.

Kronospan says Mursala goes with each of these, serving as a complementary neutral base. Some of the latest designs for kitchen worktops and backsplashes are with concrete (K538 PN Dovetail Arosa) and metallic effects (K523 PE Platinium Disk) in cool tones.

All the above designs are contained in the Kronodesign Global Collection 3.0.
