Can the show go on? This year’s edition of the biennial Milan woodworking exhibition, Xylexpo, was held in May at the Rho Fairgrounds outside the city. Mike Botting was there to bring this report
The world’s greatest show exceeds expectations
The mood of this year’s Ligna exhibition was very positive, with good visitor numbers – said by the organisers to be 90,000 – including a 26% increase in attendance from abroad compared with...
Interzum wows with cutting-edge designs

Biennial show lived up to modest expectations
It is not always good to get what you expect, especially when your expectations were low, but the IWF show did meet the expectations of the exhibitors; they expected fewer visitors and that’s...
Milan attracts fewer but market quite upbeat
One exhibitor, only half-jokingly, suggested that one of the aisles of Hall 10 (the principal panel processing machinery hall) would make a...
An interesting time to hold major woodworking and furniture industry exhibitions in an uncertain global economic climate, but Beijing’s WMF and FAM shows generated a positive response. Mike Botting was there to bring this report

Mixed feelings The 21st edition of Milan’s biennial Xylexpo exhibition, known as Xylexpo New, saw a record number of exhibitors but fewer visitors than the 2006 event, perhaps reflecting today’s cautious mood in the woodworking industries. Visitor numbers, admits the organiser of this year’s Xylexpo New, were 12.1% down on 2006 at 81,980. Many exhibition organisers tend to try and ‘massage’ such statistics to make things look better and credit is due to ACIMALL for its honesty. The problem was that the obvious quietness of the event left some of the record 853 exhibitors (284 from 38 countries) wondering if they should have gone to the expense of being there.
Held in Beijing in even years, the WMF show for woodworking machinery and furniture manufacturing equipment, running concurrently with the furniture accessories, materials and wood products...
It keeps on growing I well remember the first ZOW exhibition I attended in 1997. Almost nobody among the exhibitors spoke English and the exhibitors' literature was only available in the German language. This was...
