Canadian industrial equipment manufacturer Can-Am Chains has completed the purchase of Nordic Quick Systems (NQS), a Swedish company that produces sprocket systems for industrial applications.

Can-Am supplies chains, sprockets and related products to sectors including wood-based panel manufacturing, forestry, wastewater and bulk material handling.

The company said the transaction adds NQS’s patented quick-change sprocket technology to its global product range.

It serves customers in more than 40 countries and has roughly 60 years of industry experience.

The acquisition is intended to extend Can-Am’s footprint across the Nordic region and wider European markets.

Can-Am Chains chief financial officer/chief operating officer (CFO/COO) Gurmeet Rayat said: “We are delighted to welcome NQS and its team to Can-Am. We have been impressed by the technology, customer relationships and market knowledge that has been built at NQS.

“Our objective is to build on those strengths, support the existing business and create new opportunities by combining NQS’s capabilities with Can-Am’s global manufacturing, product, and market reach.”

NQS’s product lines sit alongside, rather than overlap with, Can-Am’s existing catalogue of industrial chain and sprocket components. NQS will be incorporated into the Can-Am group.

Both organisations plan a phased integration aimed at preserving service continuity for NQS’s customer base while broadening the technical solutions on offer.

The company said its immediate priorities are operational continuity and integration.

NQS CEO Erik Jonsson said: “With Can-Am, we can combine our innovations and refurbishment technology with a complete chain range and a global organisation. This strengthens our offering to existing customers and opens up new markets.”

Can-Am and NQS intend to collaborate closely with staff, customers and suppliers as they explore opportunities to grow the combined business domestically in the Nordics and in international markets.
