US-based wood fibre insulation manufacturer TimberHP has signed a commercial partnership with Weyerhaeuser to increase the availability of wood-based insulation products in the country.

The agreement grants Weyerhaeuser the rights to commercialise and distribute TimberHP’s range of wood fibre insulation products, including TimberBatt and TimberBoard, across the lumber and building materials channel in the US.

Distribution for TimberFill blown-in insulation will remain unchanged.

TimberHP, which manufactures its insulation products in the US from renewable softwood residuals, has positioned itself as the only domestic producer of wood fibre insulation.

The collaboration enables TimberHP to leverage Weyerhaeuser’s transportation logistics, sales network and established customer relationships to expand the market reach of its insulation products among dealers, builders and contractors.

TimberHP’s specialists and Weyerhaeuser’s sales teams plan to assist builders and contractors in incorporating wood fibre insulation into construction projects.

In addition, TimberHP and Weyerhaeuser are exploring further collaboration on developing and commercialising new high-performance, wood-based building materials.

TimberHP CEO and co-founder Matt O’Malia said: “This partnership represents an important next step for wood fibre insulation in the US. Weyerhaeuser has shaped how North America builds for generations.

“Bringing their unmatched reach and trusted industry relationships together with our building science platform allows us to scale wood fibre insulation from an emerging category into a mainstream standard and continue developing what’s possible with wood.”

Founded in 1900, Weyerhaeuser is among the largest private timberland owners globally.

The company currently owns or manages over 10 million acres of timberland in the US and manages timber resources in Canada through long-term licences on public lands.
