Huber Engineered Woods (HEW), a Charlotte-based manufacturer of engineered wood building products, has signed a long-term lease for 51,428ft² at Savona Mill in west Charlotte for its local headquarters.
The J.M. Huber subsidiary will occupy the entire top floor of the mill building. Its 94 employees will move from Resource Square One at 10925 David Taylor Drive in University Research Park in summer 2027.
President Joe Burgess said the move to Savona Mill represented an investment in Huber Engineered Woods’ people and would provide a more modern, collaborative workplace to support long-term growth and success, according to a report in the Charlotte Business Journal.
JLL senior managing director John Ball and senior vice-president Claiborne Mulhern represented Savona Mill and owner Portman. Brent Royall, a partner at 6 Summit Partners, represented Huber Engineered Woods.
Ball said the agreement was “an affirmation… of all the good work that went into the repositioning by the ownership and development teams, and testament to the FreeMoreWest submarket.”
He added that the top floor was “set up to be a real signature statement piece” and said Huber Engineered Woods was expected to deliver an upfit that its associates and customers would be excited with for years to come.
Huber Engineered Woods manufactures high-performance oriented strand board (OSB) products for building-envelope applications.
Its engineered panels use moisture-resistant resins throughout and are designed to prevent issues including warping, sagging and edge-swell.
The company’s premium subflooring and structural panel range includes AdvanTech Subflooring, AdvanTech X-Factor Subflooring and AdvanTech Sheathing, alongside Huber Blue Plus OSB Flooring.
Its integrated wall and roof portfolio is led by the ZIP System Sheathing and ZIP System R-Sheathing lines, complemented by standard Huber Blue OSB Flooring and Sheathing Panels.
ZIP System Sheathing integrates a water-resistive barrier into the structural panel, while ZIP System R-Sheathing adds a polyisocyanurate continuous foam insulation layer.
Through its industrial division, the company supplies PerformMAX Industrial Panels for applications including transportation flooring, cabinetry, countertops and shed floors.
The core Huber Industrial Panel (HIP) line-up consists of continuous-press structural panels available in lengths of up to 288in for heavy manufacturing applications.
