Year-to-date panel shipments up 3% over 2015
7 July 2016May 2016 shipments of particleboard and MDF in the US and Canada totalled 495 million ft2 (¾in basis), an increase of 6.58% over May 2015 total shipments of 464 million ft2. Year-to-date shipments remain ahead of 2015 by 3.18% at 2.383 million ft2, despite a 3.8% dip from the previous month.
MDF shipments for May 2016 increased 12.2% as compared to the same month last year - from 186 million ft2 to 209 million ft2 (¾in basis). Year-to-date shipments are at 990 million ft2, up 8.1% from the same period in 2015.
Particleboard shipments were 2.79% higher than May 2015 totals, from 278 million ft2 to 286 million ft2 (¾in basis).
