US housing industry stats looking more positive

The rate of housebuilding permits issued in the US has reached its most healthy position for five years.

The figures up to November were released by the US Census Department and US Department of Housing and Urban Development in their residential construction statistics.

Privately-owned housing permits issued were a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.48 million in November, 11.1% above the same figure a year ago.

Privately-owned house completions had reached 1.18 million by the end of November, 7.3% above last year.

Privately-owned housing starts were at a seasonally-adjusted annual rate of 1.36 million in November, a 13.6% increase on a year ago. Single-family housing starts reached 938,000 in November, 2.4% above the revised October figure.
