Panel shipments hit highest level of 2016

Shipments of particleboard and MDF totalled 501 million ft2 (¾in basis) in August, an increase of 4.16% compared to August 2015 totals of 481 million ft2, according to the Composite Panel Association’s (CPA) Industry Snapshot Report. Year-to-date shipments of 3.748 million ft2 trailed 2015 by 0.52%.

MDF shipments were 196 million ft², an increase of 3.5% compared to August 2015 totals of 189 million ft² (¾in basis). Year-to-date shipments were 1.483 million ft², down 0.6% for the first eight months of the year compared to 1.492 million ft² for the same period in 2015.

Particleboard shipments were 306 million ft², 4.6% ahead of August 2015 totals of 292 million ft² (¾in basis). Year-to-date shipments were 0.4% behind 2015 at 2.275 million ft².
