Record order for Cremona makes history

Italian plywood and veneer machinery manufacturer Angelo Cremona has signed what is probably the biggest contract in the history of Europe and Africa with a company in Gabon, Africa.

The contract was signed in Libreville on March 30 between Cremona and the Societé Nationale des Bois du Gabon (SNBG) in the presence of the president and the prime minister of Gabon.

The order, valued by Camillo Botti, managing director of Cremona, at over 20 million euros, comprises the supply of two 11ft wide peeling and drying lines for plywood, including three dryers, a 25-opening hot press of 11x7ft and a squaring and sanding line all from Cremona’s factory.

Also ordered is one vertical veneer slicing line with vacuum bed and a press dryer. This is due on-stream in December 2010/January 2011.

“All equipment will be from Cremona from debarking to log preparation to the finished plywood panel,” said Mr Botti.

Capacity will be 350-400m3 of log input per day in two shifts, mainly of okoumé species.
In addition, Cremona is to supply a sawmill of 500m3 /month output and an energy plant of 10m Kcal with the possibility to generate electricity.

Total value of the whole project is around 40 million euros, with a completion date of around August 2011.
