Weinig AG has purchased the Austrian wood working machinery manufacturer Holz-Her (which was in administration) on April 1.
Holz-Her is to be managed as an independent brand within the Weinig Group with its products comprising CNC machining centres, edgebanding machines, pressure beam saws and vertical panel saws.
The step allows both companies to consolidate their global market presence with innovative products and services for panel and solid wood processing.
According to Weinig, this acquisition marks the company’s return to its growth strategy, which had been interrupted by the economy.
“Holz-Her’s high level of competence in the field of CNC is of particular interest to Weinig,” said Weinig ceo Walter Fahrenschon
Holz-Her had more than 800 creditors and suffered a “massive” drop in business during the recession, according to The Alpine Land Creditors Association.
