Uniboard, a subsidiary od Pfleiderer AG and a leading producer of engineered wood products in North America, has just put into operation a new plant for MDF and HDF in Moncure, North Carolina.
The relocation from La Baie in Canada and the reinstallation and start of operation of the plant at the new location took just over one year.
With an annual production capacity of 400,000m3 of fibreboard, Moncure is said to be the biggest and technologically most advanced MDF/HDF plant in North America, and is Uniboard’s third production site in the US.
The site’s capacity for particleboard, which has been in existence for a longer period, is more than 300,000m3/year.
The new plant in Moncure is part of Pfleiderer’s mega site concept which, says the company, is leading to advantages in cost and efficiency.
