Mis-selling of palm-core plywood may lead to lawsuits

The potential of future prosecutions arising from the sale of palm-core plywood into structural end uses was mooted at a packed London meeting of plywood traders.

During a special Plywood Club of London debate on the hot topic of palm-core plywood, trader John Wright said he was worried about palm’s strength characteristics, which were different from wood veneer and warned that a failure to perform could destroy the public’s faith in plywood products.

The Malaysian Timber Council’s London office director Sheam Satkuru-Granzella suggested that problems may lead to lawsuits in the future.
