Uniboard invests US$2m in melamine press
Published: 29 September, 2009
Pfleiderer subsidiary Uniboard is investing more than US$2m in a new short-cycle melamine press at its Canadian plant in Val-d’Or.
The new press is scheduled to start up in the first quarter of 2010.
The investment is designed to strengthen Uniboard’s position in the North American market for thermo-fused melamine panels.
Val-D’Or will be able to expand its existing portfolio to include value-added products for the furniture industry and for kitchen and bathroom cabinetry.
“The flexibility of this new equipment will give us competitive advantages in our core markets Québec, Ontario and north-eastern US,” said Uniboard ceo James Hogg.
