Imported bamboo plywood from China qualifies for LEED credits

BamPly bamboo panels imported directly from mills in China and marketed in the US by Pacific Western Wood Inc of Los Angeles qualify for LEED sustainable building credits, according to the company.

BamPly is now a registered trademark, it said in a recent release.

Because bamboo plywood is manufactured with a non-formaldehyde glue and is rapidly renewable, it qualifies for LEED credits MR 6 (Rapid Renewable Materials) and EQ 4 (Low or No Added Urea Formaldehyde).

BamPly is available in vertical and horizontal grain with either a natural or carbonized (honey-wheat or amber) colour. Natural bamboo plywood – just as the name indicates – is very light and carries its natural colour.

Established by Peter Elieff in 1989, Pacific Western Wood Products imports and distributes hardwood plywood, exotic hardwoods, veneer core plywood and hardwood lumber products.
