The construction of Uniboard’s MDF and High Density Fibreboard (HDF) plant in Moncure, North Carolina is proceeding on schedule.
Eighty per cent pf the foundation is complete and 50% of production and warehouse areas are also complete with most heavy equipment now in place. The total investment will amount to US$160m and start-up is scheduled this quarter (Q4, 2009).
The state-of-the-art MDF facility will produce multiple grades, thicknesses and sizes for manufacturers of kitchen cabinetry, office and residential furniture, store fixtures, flooring and moulding.
The Chatham County plant will also supply material to Pergo, a sister company in the region that develops, manufactures and markets laminate flooring.
Uniboard’s Moncure MDF facility will be part of the Moncure mega-site, which currently offers particleboard and thermofused melamine panels, providing one-stop-shop capabilities for its customers.
