CFP obtains CARB emissions exemption

Hardwood plywood and veneer manufacturer Columbia Forest Products (CFP) of Greensboro, North Carolina, has been given an exemption from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) from routine formaldehyde emissions testing for its core hardwood plywood products, which are manufactured with soy-based PureBond formaldehyde-free resin.

According to CFP, PureBond is the first domestically-produced hardwood plywood brand to achieve the exemption, which certifies that its panels meet CARB's Phase 2 formaldehyde emission limit of 0.05 parts per million, due to take effect in January 2010, reports Home Furnishings Business.
