Aspiravi and Spano build biomass power plant
Published: 16 September, 2008
A&S Energie plc, a 50/50 cooperative of Aspiravi plc and panel maker Spano plc, is to erect a biomass power station near the Belgian Spano site. It is anticipated that the plant will process 170,000 tons/year of non-recyclable wood residues.
The plant will be located on 4.5ha near the Spano factory on the Roeselare-Leie canal in Oostrozebeke, Belgium. The investment will be e90m and is expected to create 24 new jobs when the plant becomes operable, scheduled for summer 2010.
The installation will have an electrical power of 24.6MW and is expected to produce 175GWh of clean energy, net, per year. This is equivalent to the electricity consumption of about 50,000 families.
