Cowie is first Norbord site to achieve safety milestone in Europe
Published: 09 January, 2012
Norbord's Cowie plant in Stirlingshire, UK, is the first site outside of North America to receive Safety Star certification following its recent audit by external auditors looking at its safety systems.
Norbord has always placed a heavy emphasis on health and safety and plans to have all of its European sites Safety Star accredited by autumn 2012.
The Safety Star programme is based on OSHA's Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) and combines 23 of its own Safety Expectations into the programme. The end result is a safety system that goes well beyond regulatory requirements.
