Swedspan Polska has celebrated the start of the construction works for a new ultra thin high density fibreboard (UT-HDF) production site. The amount of the entire investment is around €140m.
Swedspan’s venture is said to be the biggest industrial investment in Poland this year and will lead to the creation of several news jobs in the Orla region.
“The production site is the beginning of a long term investment in the region. According to our plans we will create approximately 180 new jobs within the next year and another 170 by 2012,” said Bruno Winborg, chairman of the board of directors, Swedspan.
The UT-HDF site will produce lightweight boards in the thickness of 1.2 to 3.0m for IKEA’s furniture suppliers. “We are looking forward to the collaboration between IKEA’s Polish furniture suppliers and the new Swedspan Polska plant,” said Christian Gunther Schwarz, ceo of the Swedspan Group.
Swedspan received building permission for the plant on June 22 and started immediately with construction. Production of the first board is scheduled for May 2011.
