Weyerhaeuser to reopen Hudson Bay mill

Weyerhaeuser Co is considering a September reopening for its OSB plant in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan, reports CBC News.

Weyerhaeuser spokesperson Wayne Roznowsky said the company had not yet decided how many shifts would operate, but said it was unlikely the 550 million ft2/year mill would start at full capacity.

Weyerhaeuser closed the mill two years ago because of falling OSB prices, laying off nearly 140 workers.

Roznowsky said there was still a lot of volatility in demand and pricing but said the company wants to be prepared to meet customer demand as markets return.
