Malaysian wood based products producer Evergreen Fibreboard Bhd is to expand its operations within the next two years, in an attempt to reinforce its position as a fully integrated fibreboard manufacturer.
Its expansion plan includes having its own rubber plantations to supply wood chips for the manufacture of MDF, said ceo Kuo Jen Chiu.
“Unlike furniture companies that only used certain parts of the rubber trees in furniture making, EFB does not waste any part of the plants in making the MDF.”
Mr Kuo said the company also planned to acquire existing MDF producers locally and overseas to further consolidate its position internationally.
“We are now the largest MDF producer in Malaysia and among the top 10 in the world based on production volume,” said Mr Kuo.
