Estonia’s only plywood mill in Otepää has become a significant player in the plywood sector as it celebrates its 10th birthday, according to owner UPM.
The export-oriented mill, said to be the second largest plywood manufacturer in the Baltics, produces standard quality birch ply, as well as higher quality WISA products for use in transport, furniture and construction industries.
“After the mill extension in 2008 and the big investment in further processing completed last year, the annual production capacity is 50,000m³ of plywood, of which more than half is further processed by coating, cutting or machining,” said Kaido Kukk, UPM plywood director.
Estonian Forestex AS established the plant together with Sylvester AS and UPM on May 12, 2000. UPM became the mill’s sole owner in 2003.
